The lovely Julie from Suffolk Socks is proof that once the knitting bug gets you it’s very, VERY hard to let go.
“Years ago I used to own a bricks and mortar shop but due to childcare when the lease ended I decided to close. I’ve always had an idea to reopen at some point.
My husband specialises in retail ecommerce and behind the scenes (behind my back) he’d set the wheels in motion for me to develop an online yarn shop.
My daughter who’s an illustrator did the logo,my son an IT teacher did some of the sliders and my other daughter who’s a make up artist helped with the aesthetics of the site all I had to do was give the nod.
How did I not know what was going on?
This idea was presented to me whilst holidaying up north on Holy Island. It didn’t take me long to say yes.
I know socks,I love knitting socks,I teach sock knitting, I live in Suffolk….made sense to make the focus of my shop socks and Suffolk Socks was born. All my yarns are British sourced, my project bags are made by me. I stock no more than 3 to 5 skeins of one colour way, this means that I’m continually bringing new colours and stock into the shop.
You can find me on www.suffolksocks.com ,Instagram,FB,and our ravelry group Suffolk Socks.
Next year I’m hoping to exhibit at some of the lovely fibre festivals. I’m hoping to bring in an exclusive colour range for the shop and maybe print some of the patterns I’ve designed”
