More Painted Woolly Toppers

I’ve finished another two hats from Painted Woolly Toppers

First up is Gallone – and I’ll be honest and say this was the hat I was most excited about because it’s knitted in ‘our’ yarn.

There’s a real twist in this hat – after the border you knit pretty much garter stitch, and it’s only when the hat is finished that the final shape happens.

The view from the back – simple and unusual.

Gallone is knitted in 4ply British wool and nylon in the Flower Power colourway. I used 92 grams to make the 22 inch size. I’m already eyeing up some DK so I can make a thicker version.

After Gallone Helical felt like such a quick knit – DK yarns are bliss when you want to see something grow quickly.

Thanks to the excellent instructions I managed the cables without a cable needle with ease – it’s a great project to perfect that skill.

A close up of the stitch pattern – the variegated yarns work so well for this.

Helical is knitted in DK 100% British BFL in the Walnut Tree colourway. I used 70g of my skein to make the 22 inch size.

Next up is Dancette.
