Without meaning to, this weeks update has developed a theme.
An inspiring theme.
Or to be more accurate, three people who I find inspirational.
First up is designer Aurelie Colas who produced an amazing design using our yarn for the Sock Madness competition on Ravelry.
I’m delighted that Aurelie has agreed to collaborate with us so that we can offer you kits for this fantastic design.
You’ll need a set of mini skeins, 100 grams of sock yarn in a contrasting colour and the pattern – but when you buy them together you can save £2.75 and get the everything you need for £24.00. Rather than putting together a couple of kits and limiting your choices, we’re making this offer available across all of our mini skein sets and sock yarns, so you can pick the perfect combination for you.
If you’d like to see some of the versions of this sock which have been finished, take a look on Ravelry.
So on to the yarns
First up there’s a new set of mini skeins in greens and greys – these would be perfect with a warm colour like copper or raspberry for Aurelie’s socks – or with a coal or undyed yarn for a slightly more sedate look.
Then there are sock yarns in semi solid colour ways
A Touch of Tiffany
Then some multi coloured sock yarn
And then onto inspiration number 2 – and a yarn called Pretty Muddy
The inspiration for this yarn was my lovely friend Claire – although she’s better known as Scully Bunbun. On occasion she exhausts everyone in the ravelry group by detailing her plans for the day. Her facebook feed is a winning mixture of terrifying workouts with names like ‘Get Shredded in 10 minutes’ – and cake. Beautifully decorated cake. This Saturday Scully Bunbun will be taking part in a Pretty Muddy race for Cancer Research – and you can sponsor her by sponsor by going to her JustGiving page or text PMSL73 to 70070. If you’d like to combine a bit of charitable giving with some stash enhancing (who says you can’t have your cake and eat it?), all the money raised from the sale of the first batch of this colourway will be donated to Cancer Research.
If you’d like something quick and easy to knit, the double knit yarns which launched last week have been receiving rave reviews. If you’d like something even quicker, there’s another batch of Bluefaced Leicester roving in the update on Friday – gorgeously soft British yarn which is spun just up the road from us.
We won’t be at Woolfest – but some of our yarn will along with the inspiring Rachel Coopey. You’ll find them both on stand K245.
The shop will be updated with all of the yarns and patterns shown above at 1900 on Friday 27th June.
