Happy New Year

OK – so not quite yet, but I am delighted to be able to tell you about the fantastic clubs we have planned for 2013.

One thing that will change for 2013 is when we send parcels out. We’re going to post UK parcels on the 3rd Monday of each month, so we’ll miss bank holidays. A lot of customers have parcels which go to work so posting at the start of the week is the best option. This will also follow through to the dates that invoices need to be paid by – for 2013 we’ll ask that you pay by the 1st of the month.

Seven Degrees of Kevin Bacon

You’ve heard of the seven degrees of Kevin Bacon game – where anyone or anything in Hollywood can be linked to Kevin Bacon in seven steps or less.

But what does that have to do with socks? Is Kevin Bacon a knitter?

For 2013 we’re offering you the Seven Degrees of Kevin Bacon sock club. But there’s a twist. Instead of linking things to Kevin, we’ll be using Helena Bonham Carter as our starting point.

The 12 yarns will all be special editions for the club, and there are no plans to release them again. All 12 will be semi solid colour ways, and you’ll receive 100 grams of yarn. Each month there will also be a pattern designed by Rachel Coopey, and these patterns will be exclusive to club members for 3 months. For the first time we’re going to offer you a choice of yarn – so you can have our sock yarn (75% superwash merino, 25% nylon with 425 meters to 100 grams) or 4ply SparkLynne yarn (75% superwash merino, 20% nylon, 5% silver stellina sparkle with 400 meters to 100 grams). Also new for this year is the option to buy just the yarn. We’re offering this option because we don’t plan to dye these colours.

You’ll be able to pay for the club on a month by month basis, or for 3, 6 or 12 months.

For UK customers each month of sock yarn and pattern will cost £18.00, Sparklynne yarn and pattern will cost £21.00, sock yarn only will cost £15.00 and Sparklynne yarn only will cost £18.00. These prices include UK postage – for Europe we need to charge an extra £1 and for the rest of the world an extra £2 . If you’d like more than one skein of yarn a month the UK postage of £3.00) will be taken off the price of the second skein.

If you’d like more than one colour in your yarn then sign up for

Loud or Soft yarn club

Each month I’ll dye up a variegated yarn in either sock yarn of 4ply SparkLynne yarn. You can have the loud and bright version, or the quiet and calm version – or one of each and have 2 yarns which will complement each other beautifully.

This is a yarn only club. Again, you’ll be able to pay for the club on a month by month basis, or for 3, 6 or 12 months.

For UK customers, each month of sock yarn will cost £15.00 and month of SparkLynne yarn will cost £18.00 . These prices include UK postage – for Europe we need to charge an extra £1 and for the rest of the world an extra £2 . If you’d like more than one skein of yarn a month the UK postage of £3.00) will be taken off the price of the second skein.

Finally, if you’re hooked on our colour block yarns you need

Colour Block Club

Each month there will be an exclusive colour block yarn which won’t appear again in the shop for at least 3 months. Yarns will be supplied as 50 gram balls in either sock yarn or 4ply SparkLynne yarn.

This is a yarn only club. Again, you’ll be able to pay for the club on a month by month basis, or for 3, 6 or 12 months.

For UK customers, each month of sock yarn will cost £13.00 for 50 grams or £23 for 100 grams (2 x 50 gram balls) and month of SparkLynne yarn will cost £14.00 for 50 grams and £25.00 for 100 grams . These prices include UK postage – for Europe we need to charge an extra £1 and for the rest of the world an extra £2 .

Mini Skein Club

Mini skein club will continue for 2013, and you can choose between semi solid and multi colours – or have both. Having held prices for the last 16 months it’s time for a rise.
A set of 7 mini skeins will cost £11.00 for UK customers, £12.00 for those in Europe and £13.00 for the rest of the world, all including postage. We’ve calculated this on the basis of £10 for the yarn and £1 for UK postage, £2 for European postage and £3 postage to the rest of the world. We’ll continue to invoice existing club members, but we wanted to let you know what else was happening.

Combining Postage

The last changes in UK postage rates mean that it’s as cheap to send you 7 skeins of yarn as it is one. So if you live in the UK we can offer to combine postage for you and send all of your clubs out in one parcel – so you’ll pay a maximum of £3.00 a month in postage. If you live in Europe the most you’ll pay in postage is £4,00, and if you live outside the UK and Europe the most you’ll pay is £6.00

Signing Up

So you want to sign up? Of course you do.

Head over to the shop and buy the clubs you’d like – or reserve your place and pay before January 1st 2013.

To guarantee your place what I need you to do is to send me an email to theknittinggoddessATbtinternetDOT com telling me which clubs you want, if you you want to pay month by month or for 3, 6 or 12 months – and where you live so I can charge the right postage. That will hold your place for you. On the 1st of December I’ll send out invoices for all of the reserved places – and you’ll have until the 1st of January to pay. Doing this seemed like the best way to make sure that existing club members get places and I can charge you the right combined postage rate. So when the clubs go on general sale in just over a week you can sit back and know that you’re all sorted out – and it’s a very easy way to sort out what you might like for Christmas.
